They are called “elastomeric” because they are slightly elastic. This is more important than it may sound. It means that the coating – also called a membrane – stretches in hot summer sun, and then goes back to its original size as the night air cools. Elastomers eliminate the cracking and buckling that can occur on most flat roofs, especially in asphalt roofing and rubber or plastic roof materials. The potential for leaks is eradicated. You have found an economical solution for flat or low slope roofs made of modified bitumen; BUR; EPDM rubber; PVC: metal; and cement.
