• There are vinyl designs today that are completely at home on an historic restoration or in the clean, sweeping lines of a contemporary home. The number of shapes of panes alone speaks to the architectural flexibility – round, leaded, diagonal, arched and divided window grids are available. You do not sacrifice beauty for function. Then there are the shapes themselves – arched tops, octagonal sashes, rectangles, square and stained glass.
• Your new windows can enhance your current exterior design, or they can completely transform it. We have seen homes in which a large picture window was replaced with a series of tall, slender panes for a dramatic new look both on the outside and to the room inside. A bay window can have the same transformational affect.
• When we replace standard-sized windows, we can add transoms above the main portion, or decorative panels alongside. Transoms can be functional or decorative. Casement models crank outwards and can look totally modern or give the feel of a traditional English cottage.
• Consider double hung top and bottom sashes, which tilt inward to make cleaning easy. They come with a brake system that keeps the sash in place, so that the pane you are cleaning is not a moving target.
